Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) for Outdoors Bloggers?

Have you heard of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) before? It when creative type drop everything and attempt to  write a full novel in one month. People love it, some writers hate it, and recently I found out about the equivalent for bloggers – National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo). The challenge is to blog everyday in November.

But why do NaBloPoMo?

Personally I am starting a new job this month and on the surface this seems like a terrible time to be attempting to post everyday… but on further contemplation I thought why not try? Here is is my theory: posting (or attempting to post) everyday will force me to either plan ahead or focus my blogging efforts. Both skills I could use more practice in, especially by next summer when I am balancing work and a full weekend warrior’s hiking schedule.

So here is my plan – I am still going to post at least one, maybe two,  of my typical “Adventure” posts per week, but on other days I’ll be mixing it up. I’ll share my favorite inspirational quotes, love letters to my favorite outdoors gear, insider info on Groveland, feelings about environmental/outdoors issues,  organizations doing important work for the places I love, and maybe some stories about my “domesticated” woodland critter (my bunny, Basil).

Nose-vember

Basil and I have called Novemeber “Nose-vember” for a few years now. It is a time celebrate cute noses, and offers a cute contrast to that movember thing.

One last thing – I am kind of hoping I will find a few other “outdoor” bloggers participating in NaBloPoMo to follow along in the journey. I am skimming through the list on blogher now, and we will see. Maybe I will follow up on that and see if I have found any.
