If your house was burning what would you take?

Today I was reading a blog called The Burning House. It asks a simple but fascinating question – If your house was burning what would you take? Since I actually did pack up stuff for the Rim Fire evacuation this year immediately thought, what was it I took? Plus I was already planning to do a little update latter this week on how the Stanislaus National Forest is looking after the fire, but before the heavy winter rains… So let’s just call this a fire themed week here on the blog! Get ignited ;)

What would you take if your house was burning?

What I took: Backpack + Gear, computer, important documents, my two favorite childhood stuffed animals, and the pets (bunny not pictured).

Albeit I did have more time for our wildfire evacuation than someone running out of a real house fire… In that case I would try to herd our pets and leave the rest to fate.

Additional note, I had been planing the backpacking trip so all the most valuable gear was already prepped to go. Yep, not only ready to evacuate, but to purify water, provide our own shelter, protect our food from bears, and not get sunburned! That is if I didn’t have to haul Herman and Basil around, but that is what a Kitty & Bunny Boarding is for, am I right?

^^That bunny gets photographed and evacuated on his own terms^^
